Dry season landscape, Ruaha National Park.
I have been photographing the natural world for many years. From the dripping rainforests of Malaysia to the
harsh, dry savannah of Tanzania, I have always endeavoured to show wild animals as a part of the wild places in
which they live. I am currently featuring photographs from Ruaha and Mikumi National Parks in southern
Tanzania, East Africa. These parks are more remote and less well known than those of the northern part of the
country, such as the famous Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Consequently, Ruaha and Mikumi get a tiny fraction
of the tourists that visit the northern parks and it is the pristine nature of these huge wilderness areas (Ruaha
covers 20,200 square kilometres) that draws me back again and again.
Ruaha, in particular, is still the wild Africa of yesterday.
